The Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) organizes a Romanian-German collaboration project on topic “Waste Management and Recycling in Romania”.
The initiative for this Romanian-German collaboration project belongs to the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Climate Protection and Nuclear Safety, being financed within the export initiative “Environment Technologies”.
Project description
The project is firstly addressed to the Romanian local public authorities responsible for implementing waste management integrated systems, but also to the German and Romanian companies interested in developing bilateral relations in the area of environmental infrastructure. The main objective consists in facilitating the experience exchange between Romanian and German experts and also in acting as a stimulus for the improvement of the current situation in Romania trough know-how transfer and specific knowledge.
Within the project the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry will organize three regional workshops and a specialized conference between September 2018 and August 2019.
First workshop “The Challenges of Waste Management in Romania” took place in Iasi on 27th September in partnership with County Council Iasi. The event was attended by representatives of local authorities from Iasi, Botosani, Neamt and Suceava counties and was moderated by Dr. Ilinca Pandele, Consultant of AHK Romania.
Workshop “The Challenges of Waste Management in Romania” – 6th November, Cluj
The second workshop will take place in Cluj on 6th November at Double Tree by Hilton Cluj – City Plaza, Beijing Room, starting at 09:00 and is organized in partnership with the Municipality of Cluj-Napoca and Cluj County Council. The current agenda can be found here:

AHK Objective within the project
Through this project AHK Romania aims to consolidate its role of permanent contact for both public and private decision factors in Romania and to extend the already created platform within econet romania and the existing Work Group Environment. Focusing on environment problems in Romania and giving concrete examples of solutions AHK strives to contribute to the overcoming of challenges faced by local authorities in implementing the National Plan for Waste Management and to highlight the possibility of involvement of German companies.
