Industry

Industry is the second most important sector at national level, holding over 20% of the country’s GDP. The situation is similar in Cluj-Napoca, where one can see that a number of 2046 companies, the majority of which in the manufacturing industry, recorded over 20% of the total sales.
This is due to the efforts of investors with a long tradition in Cluj-Napoca, in sub-sectors such as bakery, clothing and underwear, pharmaceuticals, furniture, processing and preserving meat products etc. In the field of extractive industry the companies are involved in the extraction of ornamental stone, building stone, limestone, gypsum, sand, clay, kaolin, iron, and generate 2% of the sectors turnover.
